Laura Smith specialises in hand blown and hot cast glass forms combined to stunning effect with copper. Her decorative and sculptural glass reflects on manmade objects absorbed into the landscape of the sea.
Laura's collections look at objects such as buoys, bottles or even disused oil platforms and how they become a habitat for nature to grow. Growing up on the island of Bermuda was instrumental in the direction of her work and provides a continuous source of inspiration.
The collection ‘Submerged’ and newest collection 'Surfaced' reflect the evolving landscape of algae and crustaceans collecting on manmade objects in the water. Based in London, Laura continues to evolve her practice and enjoys the organic and immediate nature of designing and making contemporary blown glass
